Labor Day Travel on Track to Break Records—Prepare for Delays

Labor Day weekend travel is expected to shatter records, with the TSA projecting nearly 17.4 million passengers to be screened between August 28 and September 3. Friday is expected to be the busiest travel day, with about 2.91 million people passing through checkpoints. Favorable weather ahead is helping drive demand for fall shopping, but travelers should brace for delays, especially in major hubs like Dallas and Atlanta, and in areas facing thunderstorms. Despite construction delays at Newark Airport, airline schedules remain full. Meanwhile, gas prices are falling, with the national average dipping to $3.15 per gallon—the lowest since 2020—offering some relief amid the travel crunch.
