How long is Chile, and how do I get around?

Chile is super long and skinny—stretching over 2,600 miles north to south but only ~110 miles wide in parts. That means distances between regions can be massive. Domestic flights are the easiest way to cover long distances, especially if you want to see Atacama, Patagonia, and Santiago in one trip. In cities like Santiago and Valparaíso, you can rely on buses, metros, and ride-hailing apps. Road trips are awesome, but give yourself time—it’s not a quick switch from one end to the other.
