NFL Week 1 Ratings Smash Records Across Networks

The very first week of the 2025 NFL season turned out to be a ratings juggernaut. CBS hit its highest average viewership for a Week 1 opener since 1998. NBC’s airing of the Buffalo Bills’ comeback win drew about 24.7 million viewers, the most for a Sunday opener in three years. FOX also saw a strong number for its single-header slot. These numbers show that the appetite for football is still huge in the U.S., especially with newer audience measurement systems giving a clearer view of who's really watching. For advertisers and networks, this is solid confirmation that the NFL remains a cash cow as the season opens.
