Federal prosecutors in the United States have asked for a minimum of 11 years in prison and a $500,000 fine for rapper P. Diddy (real name Sean Combs), Reuters reports. According to the agency, the request for Combs is "at least 135 months in prison." Judge Arun Sumbramanian is expected to sentence the rapper on October 3.
Combs faces up to 20 years in prison after a jury found him guilty in early July of transporting people for prostitution.
The jury also found the rapper not guilty of both counts of human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation and of participating in a criminal organization. These charges carried a potential sentence of up to life in prison.
Sean Combs was arrested in September 2024. He was charged with conspiracy to commit racketeering and sex trafficking. Prosecutors alleged that the musician created and operated a "criminal enterprise" through his business empire that engaged in sex trafficking, kidnapping, arson, and bribery. Combs denied the charges.
