In Afghanistan, the main languages are Dari and Pashto. Dari is a form of Persian and is widely used for government, media, and education. Pashto is spoken mainly in the southern and eastern regions. Many Afghans are bilingual, often speaking both Dari and Pashto. English is also becoming more common, especially among younger people and in business. There are also smaller communities that speak Uzbek, Turkmen, and other local languages. So, if you’re visiting, knowing a few phrases in Dari or Pashto can be really handy.
