Japan has a population of about 123 million people. Most residents live in densely populated urban areas like Tokyo, Osaka, and Yokohama. The population is aging rapidly due to low birth rates and long life expectancy. Population decline has become a major challenge, affecting the economy and workforce. Immigration is slowly increasing to help offset the shrinking population. Despite this, Japan remains one of the world’s most developed and technologically advanced societies. Overall, Japan has a large, aging, and highly urbanized population.
