Iceland is one of the safest countries in the world for travelers. Crime rates are extremely low, and violent crime is almost nonexistent. Petty theft is rare, even in the capital, Reykjavik. The main risks come from nature, such as slippery trails, rough weather, or volcanic areas. Locals are very friendly and often go out of their way to help visitors. Roads are safe but can be icy during winter, so caution is needed. Overall, Iceland is an incredibly safe and peaceful destination for tourists.
