Phelps’ training routine was intense and extremely disciplined. He swam around 80,000 metres a week during peak seasons and spent hours in the gym building strength and flexibility. His coach, Bob Bowman, was known for pushing him hard but also guiding him carefully. They trained almost every day, including major holidays, because consistency mattered more than motivational hype. He also focused on mental resilience, visualising races and preparing for pressure.
