Djokovic grew up in Belgrade during a really rough time, with a lot of instability around him. He trained at local courts even when resources were scarce. As a young teen, he went to Germany for development, which pushed his career to the next level. His parents supported him the whole way, even when it strained the family financially. Growing up during wartime gave him a crazy level of emotional toughness. Djokovic often says adversity built his confidence and willpower. His climb to the top wasn’t easy, and that struggle shaped the champion he became.
