Jordan was born in Brooklyn, New York but grew up in Wilmington, North Carolina. As a kid, he loved sports and used failure as fuel — the famous high school “cut” story pushed him harder. At the University of North Carolina, he hit the championship-winning shot as a freshman, instantly making headlines. Getting drafted by the Bulls in 1984 put him in a team that needed a savior. His rookie season was explosive, and people instantly realized he was different. By year two and three, the entire league had to adjust to him. From there, he became a firestorm that nobody could put out.
