How did Paramount Pictures become part of Hollywood’s “Big Five”?

Paramount joined Hollywood’s elite group by expanding aggressively in the early 1900s. It built theatres, controlled distribution, and produced films all under one system. This vertical model gave the studio massive power and reach. Its movies consistently performed well, which boosted its reputation. Paramount also discovered and promoted some of Hollywood’s biggest stars. Over time, the studio became a symbol of classic American cinema. That long-term influence is why it remains part of the “Big Five” today.
