How did Mark Carney start his professional career?

After finishing his studies, Mark Carney worked for Goldman Sachs. He spent about 13 years with the bank in major financial centers like London, Tokyo, New York, and Toronto. This gave him real-world experience in global markets and investment banking. He moved into public service when he became deputy governor of the Bank of Canada in 2003. Shortly after, he worked for the Canadian finance ministry before returning as governor of the central bank. His early career combined private sector depth with growing public policy expertise. That mix eventually made him a strong candidate for leadership roles at national and international levels.
