Benin is a country in West Africa located on the Gulf of Guinea, bordered by Togo to the west, Nigeria to the east, and Burkina Faso and Niger to the north. Its official capital is Porto‑Novo, but Cotonou serves as the country’s largest city and main economic hub. Benin covers an area of about 114,763 square kilometres and has a diverse landscape of coastlines, savannahs, and protected natural parks.
