What is the capital of Tanzania?

The official capital of Tanzania is Dodoma, located in the central part of the country. Dodoma became the national capital in the 1990s, although many government offices and foreign embassies still operate from Dar es Salaam. The move to Dodoma was motivated by its more central location, making it accessible to people across the country. Although smaller than Dar es Salaam, Dodoma has grown steadily as administrative functions shifted there. It hosts the National Assembly and various government ministries. The city also serves as a hub for regional commerce and transport. Dodoma’s development reflects Tanzania’s efforts to balance growth beyond its coastal regions.
