What is the climate like in Ghana?

Ghana has a tropical climate that varies by region, with the south experiencing a climate influenced by the Gulf of Guinea and the interior having warmer, drier conditions. The country generally has two main seasons: a wet season and a dry season, although the timing and intensity differ between the coastal and northern areas. In the southern coastal belt, the wet season typically runs from April to July and again from September to November. Northern Ghana experiences a single rainy season from May to September, followed by a hot dry season influenced by the harmattan winds. Temperatures are generally warm throughout the year, averaging between 24°C and 32°C, though coastal areas tend to be more humid. The varied climate supports diverse ecosystems, from rainforests to savannas, and influences agricultural patterns. Whether visiting beaches or national parks, understanding the climate helps visitors plan their trips.
