What is the population and cultural diversity of Ghana?

Ghana has an estimated population of over 33 million people, making it one of West Africa’s most populous countries. The population includes many ethnic groups, such as the Akan, Ewe, Ga‑Dangme, and Mole‑Dagbani, each with its own languages, traditions, and cultural practices. In total, more than 70 languages and dialects are spoken across the country, reflecting its rich cultural diversity. Christianity, Islam, and traditional African religions are practised freely in Ghana, contributing to its reputation for religious tolerance. English, as the official language, unifies the nation and is used in government, education, and business. Many communities celebrate colorful festivals, traditional music and dance, and artisanal crafts that showcase Ghanaian heritage. This cultural plurality is one of Ghana’s defining features and draws visitors interested in authentic experiences.
