Mount Rainier stands at 14,410 feet tall. It is the tallest mountain in Washington State. It is also one of the highest volcanoes in the continental United States. The mountain rises very sharply from low land around it. This makes it look even taller than its elevation suggests. Snow and glaciers cover much of the peak year-round. Its height plays a big role in local weather patterns.
