What should I do first when I visit Geneva?

A great place to start in Geneva is walking around the lakeside near the Pont du Mont-Blanc and checking out the scenic views of Lake Geneva and the mountains beyond. From there you can stroll to the Jardin Anglais or along Quai Gustave-Ador, which combine water views with gardens, rose bushes, and places to relax. Don’t miss the Old Town nearby, where narrow cobblestone streets lead to historic buildings, cafes, and landmarks like St. Pierre Cathedral. Museums like the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum offer strong insight into global humanitarian history. If you’re into plants and green spaces, the Conservatory and Botanical Garden of Geneva is huge and super peaceful. Another fun way to explore is by taking a ride on the small lake boats (mouettes) that cross the water for a unique local experience. Boat rides, markets, parks, and lakeside walks are perfect for your first day.
