How do people celebrate Valentine’s Day around the world?

Valentine’s Day celebrations vary a lot depending on where you are in the world, with some cool twists on the same idea of connecting with others. In many Western countries, couples go out for dinner, exchange flowers and gifts, or send cards and love notes. In schools you’ll see kids exchange silly cards and candy with classmates, which is a big part of the celebration for younger people. In Japan, women traditionally give chocolates to men on Valentine’s Day and then men return the favor a month later on White Day on March 14, when guys give gifts back. Other parts of the world focus more on friendship or group celebrations rather than only romantic love. Even traditions like Singles Awareness Day on February 15 show there are lots of ways to mark the time, whether you’re celebrating a partner, friends or yourself.
