What’s the history of Rate Field’s name?

The ballpark originally opened in 1991 as New Comiskey Park before adopting modern corporate names. From 2003 to 2016 it was known as U.S. Cellular Field under a naming rights deal. Then it became Guaranteed Rate Field when its sponsor changed. Starting with the 2025 season, the stadium was officially renamed Rate Field after the naming sponsor simplified its own company name. This change came with mixed reactions from fans, with some joking about the new brand online. Even so, the park’s history has stuck with locals who often call it “Sox Park” or the classic Comiskey name. The naming rights deal runs through at least 2029.
