Before the war, Kharkiv was one of Ukraine’s biggest educational centers, home to Karazin University and many other institutes with local and international students. During conflict, schools and universities adapted by creating underground classrooms, metro station campuses and hybrid online/in‑person programs to keep education going. Students continue studies in a mix of protected locations and virtual settings to balance safety with learning. Local universities still play a role in community support and research even as daily life is disrupted. Many educators work to support psychological health and academic progress despite challenges. Some institutions have expanded programs abroad or partnered with international campuses to keep projects alive. If peace improves in the future, these schools are expected to regain even stronger academic activity and student exchange opportunities.
