Petco Park is right in downtown San Diego’s East Village, so getting there is all about what you prefer — ride, walk, or park. There are plenty of paid parking options nearby like the Padres Parkade and Tailgate Lot, but a lot of visitors say it’s worth booking spots ahead of time because downtown meters and garages can be pricey, especially on Padres game days or big events. Street parking around the ballpark has seen special event rates, sometimes around $10 an hour close to the park, so pay attention to signs and rates before you leave your car. A ton of people take the San Diego Trolley, with stops super close to the gates, which means skipping the whole parking stress altogether. Ride-share drop-offs are also easy with designated spots near Park Boulevard and Harbor Drive. If you don’t mind a bit of a walk, parking a few blocks out and strolling in saves money and gives you time to enjoy downtown before you even get to Petco Park. Whatever you pick, allow extra time because traffic around big games can get nuts.
