What’s the weather and seasons like across Ontario?

Ontario’s weather changes a lot depending on where you are in the province because it’s so big, but most residents experience four distinct seasons. In the south near the Great Lakes and big cities, summer days can be warm or even hot with temperatures above 30°C, and winters can be cold with snow and temperatures well below freezing. Spring and fall are usually mild and often very pretty with colorful trees or blooming nature. Places further north get even colder winters, longer snow seasons, and sometimes shorter summers, making for a classic winter wonderland feel. The lakes and landscapes also shape micro‑climates, so areas closer to water might have slightly different weather patterns than inland spots. Because the seasons are so varied, a lot of Ontarians plan activities around them, with summer hikes and water fun, cozy winter sports, and spring or fall festivals. If you love seasonal changes, Ontario’s weather gives you plenty to experience every year.
