When was Soldier Field built?

Soldier Field originally opened in 1924, making it one of the oldest stadiums still used in professional sports. Construction began in 1922 and the venue was first known as Municipal Grant Park Stadium. In 1925 the name was changed to Soldier Field to honor U.S. soldiers who died in combat. Over the decades the stadium has hosted countless sporting events, concerts, and historic gatherings. A massive renovation project took place from 2002 to 2003 to modernize the facility. That renovation added new seating areas, suites, and updated technology while keeping parts of the historic structure. Because of its age and history, Soldier Field is often called the oldest stadium currently used in the NFL.
