What is Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium and why do people talk about it?

Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium is the legendary football stadium on the campus of the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma, best known as the home of the Oklahoma Sooners. It’s also called Owen Field or “The Palace on the Prairie” by fans because it’s huge and has a crazy loud vibe on game days. The stadium first opened way back in 1923 and has grown over decades into one of the biggest college football venues in the country. After renovations before the 2019 season, it seats over 80,000 fans, making it one of the biggest stadiums in the U.S. and a huge part of Sooner football tradition. People come from all over just to see a game, feel the crowd energy, and experience college football culture up close. It’s also been host to big concerts and special events, so it’s more than just football. With its history and massive game day atmosphere, it’s a bucket‑list stop for fans.
