What is the Artemis II mission to the Moon?

Posted on Mar 31, 2026 / Technology

Artemis II is NASA’s first crewed mission in the Artemis program and a big step toward returning humans to the Moon. It will send four astronauts on a trip around the Moon and back to Earth. Unlike older missions, it’s designed to test modern spacecraft and systems for deep space travel. The mission builds on Artemis I, which was an uncrewed test flight in 2022. Artemis II won’t land on the Moon but will orbit it in a flyby path. This helps NASA make sure everything works before future landing missions. It’s basically a test run with humans onboard before going further.
