What is Trump Tower Chicago and why is it famous?

Trump Tower Chicago, officially called Trump International Hotel and Tower Chicago, is one of the tallest skyscrapers in the city. The tower stands along the Chicago River near Michigan Avenue and downtown landmarks like the Wrigley Building. It became famous for its height, reflective glass design, and luxury hotel and condo spaces. The building opened in 2009 and was designed by architect Adrian Smith from Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. Many architecture fans recognize the tower because of its sleek shape and stepped setbacks that match nearby buildings. The skyscraper also became widely discussed because of the large “TRUMP” sign placed on the exterior facing the river. Today it remains one of the most recognizable towers on the Chicago skyline.
