Newaygo County is situated in the central region of Michigan. The area of Newaygo County is about 861 square miles. The county was formed in 1840 from parts of Mackinac County and Oceana County, and it is populated today by 50 thousand residents. White Cloud is the county seat of Newaygo County. The county is named after a Chippewa leader who signed the Saginaw Treaty of 1819.
