According to the Hurriyet newspaper, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will visit Syria with a large delegation, which will also include ministers responsible for investments.

The date of the visit has not been announced.

The newspaper's columnist Abdulkadir Selvi notes that Turkey's first priority is to disarm Kurdish militants. He quotes the de facto ruler of Syria, Ahmed al-Sharaa, who stated the need to disarm all groups operating in the country.

The previous day, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that official Ankara maintains close contacts with the new Syrian leadership, adding that visits to Syria will become even more intensive.

"There is no place for groups like the Islamic State and the Kurdistan Workers' Party in Syria or in the region as a whole," he said, declaring the need for Syria's territorial integrity and promising to help its southern neighbor restore its economy.
