Is San Jose a walkable city?

Some parts of San Jose are walkable, especially Downtown and Santana Row. However, the city is pretty spread out, so having a car or using rideshare helps. There are bike lanes and public transit options like light rail for getting around. If you stay in the downtown core, you can get to restaurants, museums, and parks on foot. Outside of that, distances can be tricky without a car.
