How was Machu Picchu discovered?

Although local farmers knew about the site, Machu Picchu was brought to international attention in 1911 by American explorer Hiram Bingham. With help from local guides, he rediscovered the ruins and introduced them to the world. His expedition sparked global interest and led to ongoing archaeological research.
