Machu Picchu remained hidden from the outside world until 1911. It was never discovered by Spanish conquistadors. Built at 2,430 meters above sea level, it showcases Incan engineering brilliance. The stones fit together without mortar and can withstand earthquakes. The city includes over 150 structures including temples, homes, and baths. Its purpose remains debated—royal retreat or religious site. Llamas roam the site today, adding charm to the landscape. It’s one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
