What materials were used to build Newgrange?

Newgrange was constructed using large stones (megaliths), river-rolled pebbles, and layers of earth and sod. The passage and chamber are built with massive slabs of stone, while the outside is faced with white quartz and granite. Some of the stones feature intricate carvings, including spirals and other geometric patterns, which are believed to have symbolic or spiritual meaning.
