Cool facts about Newgrange

Newgrange is older than both Stonehenge and the Great Pyramids of Egypt. Built around 3200 BC, it’s a prehistoric passage tomb located in Ireland’s Boyne Valley. On the winter solstice, sunlight shines through a roof box to illuminate the tomb’s inner chamber. The tomb is adorned with mysterious megalithic art. It was rediscovered and excavated in the 17th century. The mound is 85 meters in diameter and 13.5 meters high. Newgrange is part of the Brú na Bóinne UNESCO World Heritage Site.
