Can people live on Mont Saint-Michel?
Posted on Aug 16, 2025 / Travel
Yes, although very few people live permanently on Mont Saint-Michel today. The island has fewer than 50 permanent residents, including monks, nuns, and a small number of villagers. Most of the activity on the island revolves around tourism, with shops, restaurants, and hotels serving the millions of visitors each year. Despite its small size, it remains a vibrant cultural site.
