Cool facts about Red Fort

The fort took about 10 years to build, from 1638 to 1648.
It was originally decorated with precious stones and jewels, many of which were looted during invasions.
The famous Koh-i-Noor diamond once adorned the Red Fort’s Peacock Throne.
The Lahori Gate, the main entrance, is the site where the Indian Prime Minister hoists the national flag every Independence Day.
The Red Fort was designed by the same emperor who built the Taj Mahal, Shah Jahan.
The fort walls stretch over 2 kilometers in length and stand about 33 meters high.
A spectacular sound and light show is held at the fort, narrating its 400-year-old history.
