The Red Fort was the political and ceremonial center of the Mughal empire. It symbolized the power, culture, and architectural excellence of the Mughal dynasty. Important state functions, royal ceremonies, and imperial gatherings were held here. After the British colonial takeover in 1857, the fort also became a symbol of India’s resistance. Today, the Prime Minister of India hoists the national flag from the Red Fort every Independence Day, reinforcing its historical significance.
