The Keeper of the Plains is a 44-foot-tall steel sculpture located in Wichita, Kansas, at the confluence of the Arkansas and Little Arkansas rivers. Created by Kiowa-Comanche artist Blackbear Bosin in 1974, it represents the spiritual significance of Native American culture and pays tribute to the Plains tribes. The sculpture has become an iconic landmark for Wichita and a symbol of respect for Native American heritage. It is positioned on a circular plaza called the "Plaza of the Keeper," which features educational displays and cultural elements. The statue overlooks the river and is surrounded by pathways and public art installations. Its striking silhouette is visible from many points in the city.
