Lake Baikal has a continental climate with long, cold winters and short, warm summers. Winter temperatures can drop below -20°C (-4°F), freezing much of the lake’s surface. Summer temperatures range from 15°C to 25°C (59°F to 77°F), making it ideal for outdoor activities. The surrounding mountains create microclimates and influence precipitation patterns. Seasonal changes also affect the lake’s ice cover, water levels, and wildlife behavior. The climate contributes to Baikal’s unique ecological conditions.
