What language is spoken in Zanzibar?

The main language spoken in Zanzibar is Swahili (Kiswahili), which is also Tanzania’s national language. English is widely used, especially in tourism and business. Arabic is also spoken due to historical Arab influence, and some communities still use local dialects. Visitors will find that most people working in the hospitality sector can communicate in English. Swahili greetings like “Jambo” or “Hakuna Matata” are warmly welcomed by locals.
