Saint Basil's Cathedral was built to celebrate Ivan the Terrible’s conquest of the Khanate of Kazan in 1552. The cathedral was designed as a monument of victory and devotion, intended to glorify the Orthodox Church and Russia’s growing power. Its structure consists of multiple chapels, each dedicated to different saints. The bright domes represent heavenly Jerusalem, emphasizing its religious symbolism. The cathedral became both a spiritual and political symbol for Russia.
