Nauru has a population of around 12,000 people, making it one of the least populated countries in the world. The population is mostly of Micronesian descent, with small communities of other Pacific Islanders, Australians, and Asians. The people of Nauru speak Nauruan as their native language, though English is also widely used. Community life is close-knit, with strong family ties and traditions. This small population gives Nauru a distinct sense of identity and culture.
