Hospitality is huge, so expect tea or coffee offers and lots of polite small talk. Dress modestly, especially outside big cities, and ask before taking photos of people or private spaces. Arabic is the main language, and a few basic greetings go a long way. Chewing qat is a social tradition, but visitors don’t have to join in. Negotiating in souqs is normal—keep it friendly and patient. As always, follow local guidance and be respectful of religious practices.
