Lake Superior is massive — about 350 miles long and 160 miles wide at its broadest point. It’s over 1,300 feet deep at the deepest spot and holds more water than all the other Great Lakes combined. In fact, it contains about 10% of all the world’s fresh surface water. That sheer size is why storms there can feel like ocean waves and why it has a reputation for unpredictable weather. It’s basically an inland sea hiding in the middle of North America.
