Super Typhoon Ragasa Batters East Asia, Causes Widespread Devastation

Super Typhoon Ragasa made landfall in southern China after unleashing destructive force across the Philippines, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. With peak winds exceeding 162 mph, the storm triggered massive flooding, infrastructure damage, and power outages. Taiwan reported at least 17 dead and dozens missing amid overflowing rivers and landslides. Hong Kong shut down transportation, grounded flights, and closed schools as coastal defenses were breached. Mainland China evacuated over 2 million residents and sent emergency aid to hardest-hit zones. The full scale of economic losses is still emerging, but recovery efforts are expected to stretch for months.
