Why did Trump send troops to Portland Oregon?

President Trump announced on Saturday that he would deploy troops to Portland, Oregon, citing threats from “domestic terrorists” and authorizing “full force, if necessary.”

He said the military mission would also protect ICE facilities he claimed were under siege.

Oregon Governor Tina Kotek and Portland Mayor Keith Wilson pushed back hard, saying the city is doing “just fine” and insisting no troops are needed.

Critics argue the move is politically motivated and may violate constitutional limits on deploying troops domestically.

The Pentagon says it has not yet received formal deployment requests, leaving many questions about timing and scope unresolved.
