Traveling around PNG can be a challenge but also part of the adventure. Air travel is the most practical for covering long distances since roads are limited or rough. Small planes connect cities, islands, and remote villages, often offering spectacular aerial views. Local buses, called PMVs, are available for short distances, but schedules can be unpredictable. Boats are essential for coastal and river travel, especially in the Sepik and Tufi regions. Hiring local guides or joining tours is highly recommended for safety and cultural insight. Flexibility and patience are key, but the journey itself is often as exciting as the destinations. Every trip gives a real sense of how diverse and rugged PNG truly is.
