Cool facts about Keleti Station

Its name means “Eastern Station” because it originally served lines heading east toward Transylvania and the Balkans.
The building’s façade and grand hall date back to the 1880s and were designed by architect Gyula Rochlitz.
Keleti appears in Hollywood films — you might spot it in movies like Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol and other productions.
The plaza outside, Baross tér, was redeveloped to improve pedestrian flow and metro access in recent decades.
Despite modern updates, parts of Keleti still have that vintage railway-station atmosphere with tiled floors and decorative details.
