Keleti (Keleti pályaudvar) is Budapest’s big historic main rail terminal, the one with the grand façade you’ve seen in photos. It opened in the 1880s and was built as the eastern gateway for trains coming from eastern Hungary and beyond. The building has survived wars and renovations and is a protected heritage site, so its architecture is part of the city vibe. Today it handles a ton of intercity and international trains, plus local services, so it’s a proper transport hub. People love it for both the old-school station feel and the convenience of connections. If you’re into train history or dramatic ceilings, it’s worth a stop just to look around. It’s basically Budapest’s classic railway landmark.
