During the Rio 2016 Olympics, Riocentro served as one of the main indoor sports venues, hosting weightlifting, boxing, table tennis, and badminton. The complex was transformed into a full-scale Olympic arena with upgraded facilities and new tech installations. Its size and flexibility made it perfect for managing multiple competitions at once. After the games, most of the improvements stayed, making it even better for big conventions and global events. Locals still see it as a legacy of the Olympics and a sign that Rio can pull off world-class organization. Nowadays, some of the same halls used for Olympic events are back to hosting fairs and concerts. It’s a neat bit of sports history mixed with everyday use.
